Reviewing Kenyan Oil and Gas Standards

On 20th January 2020, Bentworth Energy’s Project Lead, attended the Kenya Petroleum Technical Assistance Project (KEPTAP) validation.  The meeting was hosted by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), with the aim of reviewing and updating the Kenyan oil and gas standards to ensure that local companies offer services and products that meet international standards.  It is anticipated that putting in place these standards will allow Kenyan based organisations to compete globally.

The workshop highlighted two key points:
  • the standards need to be tailored to meet the requirements of specific sectors within the oil and gas industry.
  • companies should have strong quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) standards in place, as these underpin the recognition that an organisation is able to compete equally in an international marketplace.
