Beyond the Shoreline: Cementing Solutions for Extended-Reach Wells

Bentworth Energy is proud to have provided cementing services for Maurel & Prom’s Kasa-01X exploration well in the Mnazi Bay area, located in Mtwara, southern Tanzania. The project marks a significant milestone in regional natural gas exploration and highlights the technical expertise required to support complex well construction operations.

An Engineering Challenge Beyond the Shoreline

The Kasa-01X well presented a unique engineering challenge, with an offshore reservoir target accessed from an onshore wellhead. The well extended towards a target approximately 4.5 kilometres offshore, beneath 400 metres of water. Its 1,100-metre horizontal section intersected nearly 600 metres of gas-bearing reservoirs, demonstrating promising results for exploration in the Mnazi Bay area.

The Role of Cementing in Well Construction

As the cementing services provider, Bentworth Energy contributed to the well construction activities supporting this technically demanding project.

Cementing plays a vital role in securing casing, isolating geological formations and maintaining well integrity throughout a well’s operational life. Achieving these objectives requires appropriate engineering, careful job planning and effective execution tailored to the specific conditions of each well.

Supporting East Africa’s Energy Resources

At Bentworth Energy, we remain committed to delivering reliable cementing services that address the operational demands of modern well construction. Through technical competence and a commitment to service quality, we continue to support projects contributing to the development of East Africa’s energy resources.
