Bentworth Energy was honoured to participate in the SPE Africa Geothermal Workshop 2026, held at the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel, Nairobi. The workshop brought together government leaders, industry experts, researchers, academia, investors, technology providers, and energy stakeholders from across Africa and beyond to explore pathways for accelerating geothermal development.
Discussions highlighted the importance of enabling policies, public-private partnerships, investor confidence, local content development, and stronger collaboration between industry and academia in unlocking geothermal potential. The conversations reinforced the need for innovation, strategic partnerships, and coordinated action to transform Africa’s geothermal resources into sustainable energy projects.

Olkaria Volcanic Deposits as Supplementary Cementitious Materials for Geothermal Well Cementing
This study investigated the potential of using locally available volcanic materials as supplementary cementitious materials for geothermal well cementing. By demonstrating their pozzolanic potential and suitability for high-temperature cement systems, the research supports the development of more sustainable, thermally resilient cement formulations while promoting the use of indigenous resources and supporting greater utilisation of locally sourced materials.
Unlocking Kenya’s Geothermal Potential through EGS and AGS Technologies
This presentation examined the role of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS) in expanding geothermal development beyond conventional resources. These emerging technologies have the potential to unlock new geothermal prospects, increase energy security, and support Africa’s transition towards a more diversified and resilient renewable energy future.
Together, these studies reflect two critical dimensions of geothermal development: advancing engineering solutions for today’s geothermal challenges while exploring innovative technologies that will shape the future of the industry.
