RAM Cementing Unit

Introduction

At Bentworth Energy, we take pride in operating three cementing units designed to deliver precise, efficient, and reliable cementing services across geothermal, oil, and gas operations. Two of these units are RAM cementing units engineered to perform in demanding wellbore conditions. They incorporate advanced technology and robust features to ensure optimal performance, making them a trusted choice for high-quality cementing applications.

Each of our RAM units carries a name that reflects its unique capabilities and characteristics. The first, Simba (Swahili for “Lion”), is named for its power and strength, as it is equipped with a V12 engine, giving it superior horsepower and enhanced pumping capacity. This makes Simba ideal for operations requiring higher performance and output. This formidable unit played a key role in the Helium One Project in Tanzania (2023 to 2024) and the Pan African Songo Songo 7 Project in Tanzania (2024).

The second unit, Ndovu (Swahili for “Elephant”), is named for its resilience and unwavering reliability. While it operates with a V8 engine, Ndovu remains a dependable workhorse in the field, consistently delivering dependable results. Notably, it was the first cementing unit acquired by Bentworth, marking the launch of our cementing operations. Throughout its operational history, Ndovu has successfully contributed to several significant projects, including Tullow Oil in Kenya (2016-2017), Zarara in Kenya (2018), Pan African Energy Songo Songo in Tanzania (2021), and TMGO in Ethiopia (2022-2023).

Both units are manually driven, enhancing their reliability and ease of maintenance. This manual control provides greater adaptability across varied conditions compared to automated systems. Additionally, the availability of spare parts streamlines maintenance, minimising downtime. Our cementing units are crucial for primary, remedial, and plug and abandonment cementing, ensuring safety and performance. Through continuous optimisation and expert handling, Bentworth Energy is committed to delivering exceptional cementing solutions that uphold the integrity of wellbore structures.

Key Features of Our Cementing Units

Simba and Ndovu are equipped with mechanically driven precision slurry mixers, including advanced jet mixing systems, that accurately maintain slurry density and consistency. These innovative systems are optimised for precise control, ensuring that the slurry is homogeneous while effectively minimising air entrainment. This combination of jet mixing and density control results in exceptional performance during cementing operations, enhancing overall operational efficiency and reliability.

Advanced control and monitoring systems further enhance the units’ capabilities. These systems provide real-time data acquisition, precise control of job parameters, and comprehensive post-job analysis, enabling operators to achieve optimal outcomes. Dual redundant systems for hydraulic and electronic operations ensure uninterrupted performance and reliability in even the most challenging environments.

The high-pressure capabilities of the units are supported by two triplex pumps, one rated at 10,000 psi and the other at 15,000 psi. These pumps are complemented by two 10-barrel (bbl.) graduated measurement tanks, which allow for precise tracking of slurry volumes. Additionally, a 4-bbl. mixing tank and a jet mixing system ensures efficient and homogeneous slurry preparation.

Safety and monitoring features include a densitometer for precise density control, a relief valve, and a chart-pressure recorder. These are augmented by a digital monitoring system, which offers real-time oversight of critical parameters. The units also include a comprehensive set of cementing irons, such as straights, loops, chiksans, swivels, and valves, to meet versatile operational needs.
