As Kenya debates the Local Content Policy and draft Local Content Oil and Gas Regulations,
we have been taking our own steps to monitor and maintain quality standards. During 2019
we will continue working on our policies and procedures and implementation of these
policies to enable us to obtain the following ISO standards. These include:
ISO 9001:2015 – This standard is based on a number of quality management principles
including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the
process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001:2015 helps ensure that
customers get consistent, good quality products and services.
ISO 14001:2015 – This standard helps an organization achieve the intended outcomes of its
environmental management system, which provide value for the environment, the
organization itself and interested parties. The intended outcomes of an environmental
management system include:
- enhancement of environmental performance;
- fulfillment of compliance obligations;
- achievement of environmental objectives.
OHS 18001:2015 – This standard specifies requirements for an occupational health and
safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations
to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as
well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance.
As one of the only local content providers in Kenya we recognise that we are in a unique
position to set the tone for our own work and that of others within the industry. This is why
we are keen to participate in the debate around local content regulations whilst
continuously working on the development of our own internal standards.
